NSF International

The NSF trademark assures consumers and regulators that certified products have been rigorously tested to comply with all standard requirements for public health protection. Choosing NSF Standard 60 registered products lets customers know that a company has manufactured a product to meet stringent criteria and procedures for use in drinking water applications. Extensive testing and material analyses, coupled with annual audits, let customers know that every aspect of a product’s development has been thoroughly evaluated.

NSF certification requires periodic inspections of manufacturing facilities and regular re-testing of products to ensure that they continue to meet all applicable standards.

Kosher

Kosher is a Hebrew word that means “fit, proper or correct”. It can be used to describe food and beverages that comply with Jewish religious dietary law. To be Kosher-certified, the production process must be suitable for Kosher requirements and approved by an independent Kosher certification agency.

The Kosher certification process enhances overall quality control as it requires additional verifications and audits, from raw materials purchasing, receiving, labels and document verification, through to the manufacturing process itself, including the condition of equipment, filling, packaging, and labelling of the finished product. This additional scrutiny leads to overall improvement in product quality and of the monitoring process throughout the quality system.

Halal

The term Halal comes from the Arabic word meaning “permissible”. For a product to be Halal-certified, it means that it is devoid of any impermissible ingredients, and that it has been processed in a facility that is conducive to maintaining the integrity of the Halal status.

The criteria for Halal are not only valid for the food and food additive industry, but also packaging materials and chemicals. This is the reason why the criteria not only focus on the manufacturing process or the materials used, but on the entire production facility, including issues such as the cleaning procedure for machines.

Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)

Enacted in 2011, the FSMA shifted the paradigm of food safety practices from reacting to food safety incidents after they occurred to proactively preventing them from happening. This legislation applies to all food sold and imported into the U.S. This includes fruits, vegetables, spices, food additives, and animal food/feed. The FSMA requires appropriate food safety systems, which include establishing a food safety plan, preventative controls, prerequisite programs, a recall plan, a supplier verification program, and other current good manufacturing practices to maintain product safety. Our hydrochloric acid shipped directly from our Port Edwards facility is food-grade and complies with all FSMA requirements.
